He is also the former chair of DDD's board. Previously, he served as Program Officer in the Global Development Program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Michael has also worked as a consultant on philanthropy and international development to other private foundations and individual donors and was a Digital Vision Fellow at Stanford University. Michael was the co-founder and Managing Director of Global Catalyst Foundation, the philanthropy arm of a Silicon Valley venture capital firm, where he facilitated a seed grant to help launch DDD. Prior to this, he helped start the non-profit organization Schools Online to bring Internet access and training to more than 5,000 schools around the world. Eric earned a B.S. from Boston College and an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was recently awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award for Public Service. Eric was selected as a member of the Emerging Leaders Program for the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Class of 2011. Before joining Adler & Colvin, he practiced as a corporate attorney, focusing in the areas of corporate and transactional law. David served as Secretary of the Exempt Organizations Committee of the American Bar Association Tax Section from 2003 to 2005. Currently he is Co-Chair of the Subcommittee on Intermediate Sanctions of the Exempt Organizations Committee and serves as Secretary and Vice Chair of the San Francisco Chapter of the Social Enterprise Alliance. David has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco, teaching a nonprofit legal issues course in the College of Professional Studies.</span><br />

Advisors, which provides tailored services to foundations, family offices and
other entities that wish to deploy resources toward positive social and
environmental outcomes. Dan created Potrero Impact Advisors in October 2010,
building on a long career as an early stage investor focused on emerging
markets. Previously, he served as director of investments at the Skoll
Foundation, which he joined in 2007. Dan led Skoll’s work in impact
investing, including direct and fund investments, and he played a key role in
creating partnerships to advance the field of social entrepreneurship. In 2000,
Dan cofounded the technology venture capital group at the International Finance
Corporation (IFC), where he invested in technology companies with social
impact. Dan has also managed the Development Marketplace (DM), the World Bank’s
social entrepreneurship and innovation program, leading its expansion from a
$3.5 million to a $10 million annual program. He serves as director of Root
Capital, a social investment fund based in Cambridge, MA and has served in
leadership roles in community organizations in San Francisco and Washington,

funds and grow a community of supporters. Tom founded Vibewire Youth Media
and Arts Inc. creating expression opportunities for young Australians through
media, arts and technology. Vibewire has received several international
awards including the NSW Non-Profit Microbusiness of the Year at the UN’s World
Summit on the Information Society. Tom is a recipient of the Future
Summit Leadership Award at the Future Summit and a Global YouthActionNet
Fellowship from the International Youth Foundation. In April
2008 Tom moved on from Vibewire and spent time traveling before being
appointed Digital Marketing Strategist and Social Media Director at Ashoka
utilizing social technologies to inspire people to become changemakers. In

shops. In Mexico, Antonio launched a VoIP company to help people living with
HIV get healthcare access through employment. He has experience in providing
tech solutions for organizations in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and

He was founding director of both the Larkin Street Youth Center and REDF; has held faculty appointments at Harvard and Stanford Business Schools, and a visiting fellowship at Oxford’s Said Business School. YO! Biz is a media content development and distribution venture, producing youth-focused radio, TV, online and offline news and information. The enterprise has the dual purpose of training youth program participants in the business aspects of media production, while providing financial sustainability to the organization's comprehensive youth development program.<br />

<b>A Mid-Stage Social Enterprise:</b><br />
<i>Kristin Peterson, Founder, Inveneo</i><br />
Inveneo is a 501(c)(3) non-profit social enterprise whose mission is to help rural, underserved communities get connected and get empowered through information and communications technologies.<br />

<b>A Mature Social Enterprise:</b><br />
<i>Tess Reynolds, CEO, New Door Ventures</i><br />
Ashbury Images, a screen printing business started 20 years ago, rebuilds lives one shirt at a time by providing paid job internships, job training, and supportive services to at-risk youth. Pedal Revolution is a full-service bicycle sales and repair shop located in San Francisco's Mission district that provides paid job internships, training and support to at-risk youth. <br />

<b>About the chapter:</b><br />
Established in 2009, the SEA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter helps to accelerate social innovation and spur the emergence of a robust support system for social enterprise in the Bay Area. The chapter offers public programs on social enterprise topics, and provides local SEA members with opportunities to connect with each other in person and online throughout the year. At this evening's event, we will also hold the chapter's annual membership meeting, and elect the 2011-2012 Board of Directors. Members will receive additional information about the election by email.<br />

The Hub is located at the corner of Mission and 5th Streets, one block south of the Powell St. BART and Muni Metro stations. Parking is available at $3.50/hr at the Fifth and Mission Garage, entrance on Mission Street.<br />

There is no charge to attend for SEA members, but please pre-register.<br />

The non-member registration fee is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Only cash and checks will be accepted at the door.<br />
